EVO ICL Surgery

The EVO ICL is an Implantable Collamer Lens, which functions as a "permanent contact lens." This procedure does not change the shape of the cornea as LASIK does, nor does it remove the natural crystalline lens of the eye. It is considered an additive surgery and makes no other structural changes to your eye. This may be a good alternative for patients who aren't ideal candidates for LASIK or Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE). Although the procedure can be permanent, the implanted lens is removable, unlike a traditional Intraocular Lens (IOL) used in RLE

LASIK Eye Surgery New York (NY)

LASIK eye surgery is a minimally invasive medical procedure that alters the shape of the cornea to refocus light so that it reaches the macula, the retina's center in the back of the eye. The clear window at the front of your eye, the cornea, is responsible for how light refracts into your eye. It is usually done as an outpatient procedure, and most patients can return to school or work within a few days.

ReLEx SMILE Treatment

  • ReLEx SMILE is the latest advancement in laser vision correction technology
  • It treats nearsightedness and astigmatism in 5 simple steps
  • It’s been performed over 2,000,000 times and counting
  • 98% of patients achieve their desired vision after ReLEX SMILE treatment

A LASIK alternative (PRK)

  • PRK is a safe and effective treatment for those who cannot have LASIK
  • PRK can be a preferred option for some
  • PRK can treat everything LASIK does, and just as effectively
  • PRK takes about as long as LASIK to undergo, but recovery takes longer
  • Most PRK patients can resume driving within one to three weeks after surgery

We’re frequently asked:

  • When will I see results after SMILE vision correction?

Many patients notice an improvement in their vision within just a few hours after SMILE surgery. Vision typically continues to improve over the next few days, with most individuals achieving stable, clear vision within a week.

  • Is SMILE vision correction permanent?

Yes, SMILE permanently reshapes the cornea to correct refractive errors such as myopia and astigmatism. However, it does not prevent the natural aging process of the eye. Conditions like presbyopia, which affect near vision as you age, may still develop. At I Love LASIK, Dr. Khosrof offers additional treatments to address these age-related changes and maintain optimal vision.

  • Can SMILE treat astigmatism?

Yes, SMILE is effective in treating both myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism. It can correct up to 3.00 diopters of astigmatism, providing patients with sharper, clearer vision.

  • What are the risks of SMILE surgery?

SMILE laser eye surgery is widely regarded as a safe and effective vision correction option, often associated with a lower risk of certain complications compared to traditional LASIK, particularly in terms of dry eye and corneal nerve damage.3 However, as with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks to consider. Possible side effects of SMILE vision correction may include:

    • Inflammation: Mild irritation or redness following surgery.

    • Infection: Although rare, there is a small risk of infection that can typically be managed with prescribed eye drops.

    • Glare and Halos: Some patients may notice halos or glare around lights, particularly at night.

    • Vision Adjustments: There is a possibility of under- or over-correction, which could require further treatment.4

Dr. Khosrof will thoroughly discuss these risks with you during your consultation, ensuring you have a clear understanding of the procedure and realistic expectations for your vision outcomes.

  • Is SMILE vision surgery covered by insurance?

In most cases, SMILE laser eye surgery is considered an elective procedure and is not covered by insurance. At I Love LASIK, we understand that cost can be a concern, and we offer flexible financing options to make vision correction more accessible. Our team will work with you to create a customized payment plan that fits your budget.
