How is it that they are so cheap? Do consumers actually pay these costs? Are more expensive LASIK facilities worth the prices they demand? Let's investigate.  

Low-ball LASIK Eye Surgery Offers  

Any LASIK eye center advertising LASIK for $250 or $299 per eye typically has an asterisk next to their price. Here is an example of a Google Adwords advertisement from a fairly well-known chain of LASIK eye clinics:   

Beware of Disclaimers 

There are about 600 words of disclaimer text on the page when you visit it, including the passage below as an example:   $250 per eye price applies to patients with qualifying insurance coverage receiving treatment for up to -1.00 diopter with up to -1.00 diopter of astigmatism, performed with a traditional excimer laser (Advantage Plan not available). Prices range between $247 and $2,299 per eye based on prescription, laser, Advantage Plan selected as well as patient’s insurance coverage. Previous Laser Vision Correction of any kind is ineligible for the $250 price offer.   A minus 1 diopter of myopia is very mild myopia. Most people who have -0.5 diopters wouldn’t even bother because the nearsightedness was so minor. Furthermore, these prices only apply to those with less than 1 diopter of astigmatism. And you can only have traditional LASIK.   So, the key phrase in that disclaimer above is: Prices range between $247 and $2,299 per eye.   And in these centers, that is the standard. Their goal is to entice you to call and visit their location so they can upsell you at the appropriate price, which is probably not $250 as advertised.
